Part 1 Prepare USB install Media

To install Arch Linux you can choose many different media I chose USB to do this you will need to first grab an image

Select your download location from https://www.archlinux.org/download/

Grab both the archlinux-xxxx.xx.xx-x86_64.iso and the archlinux-xxxx.xx.xx-x86_64.iso.sig files

Open your terminal emulator and change to the download folder where both files are now in place and check if download is OK by using

pacman-key -v archlinux-2018.06.01-x86_64.iso.sig

Then write image to a USB (this will destroy all content on the USB storage)

dd bs=4M if=/path/to/archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdx status=progress oflag=sync

you can check the value of /dev/sdx by using lsblk

When successful you will see a message like this

$ sudo dd bs=4M if=archlinux-2018.06.01-x86_64.iso of=/dev/sdc status=progress oflag=sync
sudo password for jason:
595591168 bytes (596 MB, 568 MiB) copied, 81 s, 7.3 MB/s
142+1 records in
142+1 records out
598736896 bytes (599 MB, 571 MiB) copied, 81.6071 s, 7.3 MB/s
$

Once you see this enter the following

$ sync

You can then remove your Arch Linux USB install media and insert it in your Install Target Machine ready for install in Part2.
